The purpose of the journal is not just to write in it, but to revisit your own ideas and thoughts, from time to time. When you’re facing hard times or tough moments, go back to your journal and read the messages that you left for yourself to remind you to keep your head up and stay strong or to help you pave the path towards your next big goal. Think of it as your guide map to your best life and another piece of the frame you need to help “build your own happiness”.
There is a saying that, “good things come to those who wait,” but others, like myself, would argue that being proactive in pursuing good things, will allow for more good things, more often.
Simply having a pet won’t make you happy, but it will boost your well-being, thus helping to push your happiness buttons.
One of my favorite and inexpensive ways of hacking my own happiness buttons is to surround myself with pleasant smells that bring to mind favorite memories.
Sing a song
Make it simple
To last your whole life long
Don’t worry that it’s not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Sing a song.
