20 Random Facts About Dizzy

Some things you likely never wanted to know about DizzyDezzi but will be afraid you asked.

Putting the pieces together

  1. If I was given an open-ended ticket to anywhere, I would cash it in for a trip to New York City. There are plenty of places that I have been in my life that I would love to get back to, Germany, for instance. And, like plenty of other people, I imagine what a visit to France or Hawaii might be like. But only place that occupies a spot on my Bucket List is New York City. I have friends, I’ve never met who live there and places I have always wanted to visit, since I was a child. A visit to the “city so nice they named it twice” would be my dream come true.

  2. If I were stuck on a deserted island, with only one record, it would be “Tapestry” by Carole King. It’s one of my favorite records of all time and I find it comforting to listen to, so it would be perfect to helping me feel more at home and at ease with my circumstances.

  3. If I were offered a lifetime supply of ice cream, but I could only have one flavor, it would be Vanilla Swiss Almond Häagen-Dazs . I like to dig out the chocolate-covered almonds and then eat around the vanilla ice cream until I get to the next layer of nuts. I always promise to eat just half a pint, but by the time I get tired of chasing the nuts, the whole pint is gone.

  4. My real-life alter-ego is Desiree Angelique (Last Name Redacted). Desiree after the wife of Napoleon Bonaparte and Angelique after one of the characters in the 70’s soap opera, “Dark Shadows”.

  5. My birthday is on a controversial Federal Holiday. Columbus Day is arguably not a day to be celebrated, but I have tended to celebrate around it for the past 46 years.

  6. I don’t have a favorite color, but my least favorite color is green. I don’t like how I look in it, no matter how nice the outfit.

  7. I have studied French, German, and Spanish, but can barely speak either of them. But I know a lot of curse words.

  8. I hate rollercoasters. I’m not sure why. I enjoyed them, at one time, then I didn’t. It may have coincided with my obsession with current events and reading/watching the news. I think I got my fear of flying around the same time.

  9. The weirdest thing I’ve ever eaten was caviar. I had some at a friend’s wedding. It was pretty salty, but pretty good.

  10. I collect angels, butterflies, fake flowers, graphic novels, and spoons of the world. My mother tried getting me to collect cows, once. I have no idea why. Mysteriously all her cow things have disappeared, never to be seen by me, again.

  11. I have a beagle named Lightening. He’s an old dog, now, and you can’t see it, but when he was a pup, he used to have a white streak, that looked like a lightening bolt down the middle of his forehead.

  12. If I could meet anyone, living or dead, I would love to meet Maya Angelou. Her writing it what inspires me, today and her book, “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings” was like reading experiences from my own life. It was comforting to read something that I could relate to, even though it had been written before I was even born.

  13. I have many talents that I am decent at, but my best talent is still singing my heart out. I don’t get any opportunities to blow my pipes, in public, anymore, but I still sing my heart out in the shower.

  14. Most of my childhood was crap (it is easier to count the days I wasn’t beaten, belittled or molested), but some of my fondest memories from my youth were the days I spent break-dancing with my two brothers. We had the parachute pants, painter’s caps, double-wrapped belts, a boom box, and our own piece of cardboard. We would go around competing against other groups in the neighborhood, just like in the movies.

  15. I love cheese and pepperoni. If I could order a pizza, without the crust, that is all I would order (with anchovies on the side).

  16. I don’t have one favorite television program, but I love watching crime/mystery shows. Not cop shows, much, but detective shows, where the audience gets to work out who the bad guy is, right along with the t.v. characters. I always make bets with my partner and most of the time I win.

  17. I am not religious. I was born/raised Catholic and later baptized a Mormon, but eventually settled on no religious affiliation, at all. I am not spiritual, and I don’t believe in a higher power. Life just is what it is and I’m okay with that.

  18. I do not believe in Karma or the Law of Attraction. I don’t believe that I deserved the shitty things that happened to me as a kid were due to negative thinking or some crap I did in a past life, anymore than I believe that a crappy person like DJT deserves to have all of his money because he’s supposedly a positive thinker. I repeat: Life just is what it is and, I may not always like it, but I’m okay with that.

  19. I do not like reality television shows. But, I do love watching documentaries. I’d rather keep up with history than with any of the Kardashians.

  20. I wear a lot of hats. I own more than 100 of them!
