Bye Felicia: Tofu Bacon

Bye Felicia: When something is just so “Nope!” that Dizzy has something to say about it.

Today: Tofu Bacon

Nope, nope, nope, nope, Nope!

Oh, come on!

I understand the spirit of this idea. Vegans and vegetarians are often coming up with ways to encourage people who love to eat red-meat to come over to the veg-side. So they take something totally non-meat related and try to turn it into something more meat-like, so as to try to convince meat-eaters that they won’t miss meat at all, if they follow these few little tricks.

It’s about “mind over matter”. If you can trick your mind into thinking that veggies can taste like meat, it won’t matter that you aren’t eating meat. And, besides, tofu is a good source of protein, just like real meat.

But, nope!

And, I’m not speaking from ignorance. I have tried tofu and tofu burgers and tofu bacon and it’s still a big fat nope for me, so long as I have meat, available to eat.

I have to say “Bye, Felicia!” on this one because, if I ever decide to give up meat, I’d rather just go cold turkey (no pun intended). But, you can’t trick me into giving up meat by trying to lure me in by naming a veggie dish something meaty. I’m too much of a meat-lover for my brain to fall for that. It’s either tofu or bacon. It cannot be both.

Don’t get it twisted.

Feel free, to visit my Facebook page and tell me what kind of things that make you say, “Nope! Bye, Felicia!” or drop a line in the comments section. I would really love to hear from you.
