Non-Believer

Non-Believer: A poem

He was not there

When I needed him

But the calls

Of those who hurt me

Were always answered

Called a liar

When I spoke the truth

A sinner

When I followed the rules

A loser

When things finally went my way

My charm

Is luck

Truth

And passion

The only path

I follow

I don’t believe

In things I cannot see

With my own eyes

If it can’t be proved

Then it’s not true.

My non-belief

Has led me

To greater heights

Than simple faith

In miracles.

Things do happen

For a reason

Neither karma nor fate

Are the answer.
